Most commercial barrier salves carry up to 70 percent water, requiring broad-spectrum phenoxyethanol and synthetic emulsifying waxes to prevent microbial bloom. Amelune eliminates water completely. By suspending 8 percent pharmaceutical non-nano zinc oxide in an anhydrous base of Simmondsia chinensis wax, Butyrospermum parkii lipid, and beeswax, this balm shields against environmental abrasion while letting skin respirate naturally.
